Packeter safety

Is PacketStream safe?

PacketStream pays you to share your internet connection. Before you start, here are the facts: what passes through your connection, what customers can see, the rules they agree to, how you get paid, and how to stop.

Your connection

What passes
through your connection.

Only while the app is running. Two kinds of traffic use it, and both earn $0.10 per GB.

Proxy customers

Businesses that buy proxy access.

Businesses pay PacketStream to send web requests through home connections. While your app runs, some of their requests go out from your public IP address.

PacketStream

Our own services.

PacketStream’s own services also send requests through Packeters. They fetch public web content that our customers ask for, and run our own monitoring, tests and quality checks.

What customers see

Your exit IP, not your account.

  • Exit IP and rough location only. Proxy customers see your exit IP address and its approximate geography.
  • No account details. PacketStream does not give customers your PacketStream account details.
  • No inbound ports. The app needs no inbound ports or port forwarding. You don’t change your router.

One device per connection

One device per IP.

Only one device can share from each public IP address. If two devices use the same internet connection, only one of them shares at a time.

Run the app only on a device and internet connection that you own or are allowed to use.
